What is a Meta-Tag?
The meta-tag is used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your
site in their indexes. These little tid-bits of code tell the search
engines what the site is all about so they allow you some control
over the way search engines index your site. Meta tags are not visible to
visitors of your page. Not all search engines use meta tags, so they are
not as important as they once were to search engine optimization, but
enough do still use them that it is worth including them in your page.
